Hickling Pre-School
Hickling Pre-School doesn't have a website of its own but is used by a number of families in Kinoulton so we thought it would be useful to include some information here about the group, their events and Ofsted information.
Hickling Pre-School is a friendly, safe, stimulating and happy environment for children to learn through play. Open for children aged between two and a half and five years old, we operate from Hickling Village Hall which is on the Main Street in the village.
Our Team
We have a dedicated team of staff who are all committed to the improvement of the learning and education of the children. The pre-school is run by a small team of local people who form the committee; all parents are extended a very warm welcome to join us - whether to become a member of the committee or just to attend one of our regular meetings which are all held in the local pub!
Preparation for School
One of the main benefits of attending a local pre-school is the opportunity for your child to make friends with future primary school classmates. When the time comes we ensure that the older children are fully prepared for the transition to 'big school' by running a dedicated 'Rising 5's' session on Wednesday mornings. Including visits to the school and specially prepared learning activities for this age group, these sessions are a popular and well established offering for which many pre-school parents re-arrange their own working patterns to ensure their child can gain the maximum benefit.
Our Facilities
The children have full and exclusive use of the village hall which has a library, computer access and a flexible array of play equipment, climbing frames and themed table top play zones. We have a kitchen, toilet facilities and an enclosed outdoor play area which we make the most of in the warmer months. The children often enjoy walks in the village and the surrounding area.
We ensure that every child achieves their learning potential in line with the government's Early Years Foundation Stage, which means that parents can be confident that our services are inspected against common standards in care and early education. We are fully OFSTED approved - click on the link below to read the latest report.
Opening Hours
We are open from Monday to Friday 9.30am to 12 noon, during school terms. We operate the same term dates as Nottinghamshire schools. You are free to choose how many and which mornings your child will attend. Please note that Wednesday mornings are set aside for those starting school the following year.
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays we run a lunch club until 1pm, which enables the children to stay and eat a packed lunch (not provided), fully supervised, for an additional charge of £2.50 per day.
The Fees
Each session (9.30-12.00) costs £7.00. If your child is aged three or four, you will qualify for Government vouchers towards the cost of childcare, which can be used in part or full payment of your monthly bill. This applies until they reach compulsory school age (the term following their fifth birthday).
